NAME --
Leon Novalis
ALIAS --
O-Daedalys: Project Thunder Storm/Project Rai-Dos/Volter/Three
Others: The White Emperor
GENDER --
Male
AGE --
Seventeen
APPEARANCE --
Cool blue eyes pierce through the nightís darkness like stars in the sky. Equally calm and dark blue hair shifts weightlessly in the wind and veils the eyes of the young boy. A certain air, or his presence rather, seems to exude from him which begs the curiosity of some while others may find themselves intimidated. Somewhat short in height, around five-foot eight-inches, and having a light build accents Leonís taste for speed.
One would be foolish to let his small size fool them, however, as his skill far surpasses that of most trainers starting their journey. Rarely is Leon found without his hands in his pockets. His posture makes him appear relaxed and generally laid back, as he stands slightly leaning backward, but in truth Leon is a very dedicated and serious Pokemon Trainer.
Leonís attire consists of a somewhat standard blue and white themed school uniform. The jacket remains typically open; accented with a loose black bow tie and a neck-strap NW-S20x series MP3 player paired with model ATH-EM700 clip-on earphones. Much like his hands being in his pockets, Leon is almost never seen without his earphones. The shoes he wears are most commonly looked at as athletic and dark in color without laces, but rather leather straps.
PERSONALITY --
Many words can be used to describe Leon on the personality side of things, such as calm and collected or cold and stoic. This young man is riddled with heart ache and has been through many hardships that have steeled him. The air around him exudes experience and confidence, but in rare cases some have witnessed his kinder, more gentle side. His Pokemon know this side better than any human and best understand the reasons behind the barrier he puts up. A deep, intricate young man longs to be free; safeguarded by a frozen shield of cool demeanor held with excellent composure. This is Leon.
As a young boy, Leon's life was full of life and wonderment. Pokemon were his friends and he enjoyed their company, just as much as the next kid. His father, who was a renowned Gym Leader in the Sinnoh Region, raised Leon properly and taught him many things about Pokemon and the world. This is where his boyish charm and warm heart began, but the colder, darker Leon one witnesses today is due to something else entirely. Though, not everything that came from the fateful day was a curse.
Leading into his journey as a Pokemon Trainer, Leon had been tested and trained to become one of the best by a secret organization. During the experiments, Leon was sheltered from other people and began seeing the world as corrupted as the organization who stole him from his happy life. Their training made him dangerous. This was made evident when he broke away from the group using a newly born Happiny that hadn't been hatched but a few weeks prior. Leon's cool and calm demeanor allowed him to maintain his freedom for three years before he was finally recaptured and forced to do the bidding of the Daedalys Organization, or O-Daedalys, once again.
HISTORY --
ïSinnoh: "Suny" Beginnings!ï
Remember.. Remember.. The nineteenth of November. This day will be forever marked as the day one of Sinnoh's greatest Pokemon trainers were brought into the world of Pokemon. A widely renowned Gym Leader in Sunyshore aided his lovely wife in the birthing of their baby son; Leon. Baby Leon was as cute as a button and adorable to boot. Now a family, the Sunyshore Gym Leader had much more on his mind than the traveling trainers who wished to challenge him.
For most of Leon's infant and toddler years, his father spent a great deal of time bonding and being an overall great influence on the young lad. Like a sponge, Leon seemed to perfectly absorb everything his father taught him. How to be kind and respectful to Pokemon, how to keep his cool in the heat of battle, and even to be a genuinely good person in general.
Prior to his birth, Leon's father had set out to catch a new Pokemon for his son, which he would gift to him once he was old enough. However, most of the Pokemon in the immediate routes were much too powerful for a baby, like Leon, so alternate methods were employed. Leon's mother was a well-known Pokemon breeder and so making a baby Pokemon egg hatch around the same time as Leon's birth would be a cinch. Just one year after coming into the world, Leon was faced with a petite and newborn Charmander.
Both Leon and his new Charmander were very playful and happy to have one another as friends. Their bond quickly developed and it showed in all aspects of their life, even when Leon won his first Pokemon Contest alongside his faithful Charmander. They were of course in the "Cute" contest, as they were so young and sprightly, so speculation could have it that they won purely due to their youth and impeccable adorability.
In the following years, Leon became quite the contestant in these shows with Charmander, not to mention their skills in battle. Leon's long-time rival, Indigo, was another young trainer Leon's age and was raised to battle Pokemon. The rivalry stems from their first battle in Sunyshore when they were three, wherein they were fighting and their Pokemon friends only tried to pull them apart from each other. Indigo was always so confident and superior that Leon became annoyed by his arrogant attitude. Though they usually got along outside of battle and competition, Leon and Indigo were also rivals in a few Pokemon Contests, though Indigo wasn't nearly as good at these tests as he was the battling aspect of Pokemon.
By the time they were young teens, both had managed to tear their way through the Sinnoh Region and claim the eight Gym Badges. Leon was actually only twelve when he finished, but Indigo was a little older by a few months. They were still evenly matched, but Leon had something else over Indigo.. He was the regional Champion for two years in the Pokemon Contests, whereas Indigo was not.
ïProject Rai-Dosï
Leon and Indigo raced against one another to see he could reach the Elite Four first, both trying desperately to be the first to challenge them. Leon knew that if he could just beat Indigo to the Elite Four and become Champion before his nemesis, Leon would forever shut Indigo's pompous mouth. Just as they barreled through Victory Road, at the end someone was waiting for the two of them. Several someones, in fact.
This was the first time Leon, or Indigo, had come across the Daedalys Organization. O-Daedalys had sent a task force to take in Leon and his rival to their base of operations for a new project; in which they were stealing prodigious trainers and forcing them to partake in a series of tests. These tests included, but were not limited to: shock therapy, brutal physical beat downs, and exhausting the trainer and their Pokemon by competing in several round robin tournaments where their lives hung in the balance. The purpose of these experiments were to create the perfect Pokemon trainer, or trainers, and utilize their skills to aid in the capture of Legendary roaming Pokemon, along with the three Legendary birds.
Of these projects to create the Daedalys Agents became known as "Project Rai-Dos" for his expertise in Electric-type Pokemon and the durability he had for withstanding even the most devastating of Pokemon attacks, such as Thunder. Leon's tenacity and sheer willpower became one of the staple traits O-Daedalys began to search for in their trainers and as the first numbers were cut from about fifty to fifteen.. The final cut went down to three. Each had their own title and specific Legendary pair they were assigned to track. Leon was given Raikou and Zapdos, while Indigo, having made the final cut, was given Suicune and Articuno. Finally, a young girl, a couple years younger than Leon and Indigo, was assigned Entei and Moltres.
O-Daedalys had spent an entire year training these three before setting them out on their first mission, which allowed them to have physical contact with humans for the first time since their capture. The triad quickly bonded and became a close-knit group, Leon and Indigo even having put aside their differences and rivalry for the sake of friendship. When all they had were each other and their Pokemon, Leon, Indigo, and the young girl from Hoenn had nothing else in the world but one another. O-Daedalys kept eyes one their agents at all times, monitoring everything from heart rate to their nutritional diet.
The Daedalys Organization wasn't going to allow their greatest assets to fall under their radar, not without one hell of a fight first. Starting off in the Kanto Region, the three began their journey in Lavender Town as they were easily able to remain unnoticed during their arrival. When they traveled to Saffron City, Leon and the others decided to go their separate ways to complete their various tasks. The divide and conquer method was basic, but took a great deal of skill to accomplish. If even one side failed, the plan was ruined.
Along his journey, Leon and his fully-grown Charmeleon wasted the Gym Leaders of Kanto. Charmeleon never wanted to evolve into a Charizard, so Leon gladly allowed it to stay as a Charmeleon back in the Sinnoh Region. Along their journey in Sinnoh, Leon had met several other Pokemon which he used to defeat the Gym Leaders of Sinnoh and now Kanto. His favorite, and possibly most powerful, Pokemon was his Scizor.
Back in Sinnoh, Leon had come across the wandering Scizor who had seen better days. A long, arcing scar was carved into its head from the front and just across the eye. It was obvious the Scizor had seen better days, as it was weak and feeble from having been wandering alone for so long. Catching it was easy, but once Leon fully healed it, the Pokemon burst from its Pokeball and smashed Leon in the face with a Bullet Punch. This was its first trial, as the Scizor tested Leon to see if he was truly a worthy trainer. Many moons later, Scizor and Leon became the best of allies. Together, he and the ever faithful Charmeleon swept a modest percentage of their battles cleanly.
Even in Kanto, Leon used his Scizor and Charmeleon with maximum efficiency. O-Daedalys had made their bonds even stronger, as they used the Trainers already caught Pokemon as weapons to harden the Daedalys Agents. Being a master of Electric-type Pokemon, Leon was always being electrocuted by his Luxray and Rotom-F during their experiments. However, The Daedalys Organization noted that Leon seemed closer to his non-Electric Pokemon. When questioned, he simply stated that he loves all his Pokemon and nothing would ever change that. A speculation by O-Daedalys was that Leon had yet to find an Electric Pokemon that stood out among the rest, but this was only their assumptions.
Moving through Kanto seemed quick, no longer than nine months before O-Daedalys pulled their agents out. Tracking the Legendary birds was tough, so they kept at it by sending the three into other various regions to gather any information on their assigned Legendaries as possible. Years passed and soon Leon had gathered quite a collection of gym badges. Regions like Sinnoh, Hoenn, and Johto were all gleaming brightly in his well-crafted badge case. Ignoring O-Daedalys when they ordered him to stop going through the Gyms and focus on the mission, their next move was to take away his Pokemon....
ïFailed Excellenceï
After being locked away in solitary confinement for a month and having his Pokemon revoked, Leon was fuming with a hatred even he could not fathom within himself. The years with O-Daedalys had made him strong, steeled to the world. He threw up barriers between him and others, slowly his friendship with Indigo turned into their old rivalry. Now it was more gritty and serious, as they were both phenomenal trainers and young adults. Leon trusted no one and was tired of doing everything O-Daedalys wanted him to do. Leon made a choice that day.. A choice to break away from O-Daedalys and never come back.
Under the blanket of night, Leon snuck into the breeding laboratory of O-Daedalys which was separate from the home base. Keeping quiet and patient, Leon managed to go unnoticed and unseen by the guards and other security measures. Already having known what Pokemon had hatched recently, he'd visited a couple times in the week he'd planned his escape, Leon used his superb skill as a trainer to befriend a Happiny that was bred to know Metronome and Counter. With this Pokemon, Leon made a clean break for freedom. He was met with minor resistance along the way, but quickly dispatched the guard and made off before help could arrive.
At this time, Leon was headed off to somewhere he was sure they could never find him, the Unova Region. A few months passed and before he knew it, Leon was carrying a new badge case, accompanied by the Trio badge, and had already evolved Happiny into a Blissey. Along with his Oshawott and Watchog, Leon began winning over the Unova region with his growing Pokemon team.
During his ventures, Leon came to really appreciate the land of Unova and became enthralled with the legends. One legend stood out to him. A cut above the rest, in his own opinion, really. The Legendary Pokemon Zekrom was said to have an awesome power and was unrivaled by any other Electric Pokemon. It was then that the young man decided to seek out this Pokemon on his journey. No matter how difficult it may have been, Leon would do his best to succeed and strive for the illusive Legendary.
Of course, becoming the Champion of Unova was also a goal of his. And in his quest, Leon came across a mysterious group known as Team Plasma. They seemed to have good intentions, in theory, but all they were really doing were hurting people and Pokemon alike. Namely, one trainer who Leon had encountered and quickly started a bitter rival with was one who had somehow managed to get his hands on Leon's old Scizor. The man seemed very happy with this fact and claimed he was a better trainer for Scizor than Leon was. A fiery rage burned within, but if Leon ever wanted to get Scizor back.. He'd have to find a way to get Erik, the Team Plasma rival, to release it.
When Erik vanished after a defeat one day, he went missing for several weeks. Searching high and low, Leon had almost completely abandoned his hopes of defeating all the Gym Leaders, though he only had three left to go. Trekking through the cold, western side of Unova, Leon came across another old friend. This made Leon question whether or not O-Daedalys was in Unova. If they were, it was likely he was being watched. The Charmeleon, unlike Scizor, was abandoned and withering in the frozen tundra. Rushing to his partnerís aid, Leon recaptured Charmeleon and took it to the nearest Pokemon Center. After it was back to full strength, Charmeleon was able to communicate what O-Daedalys had done and what they were doing now.
Apparently there was another Dragon-type Pokemon who was Zekrom's equal opposite, Reshiram. It seemed apparent that whosoever controlled these two Pokemon, would become unstoppable. Leon wasn't about to let the Daedalys Organization obtain that sort of power, so his search for Zekrom became intensified. Around this time, Erik had decided to show his face again and claimed that he would win this time around. With a cold glare, Leon just battled against him with everything he had and refused to hold back. After a devastating defeat, Erik was forced to relinquish Scizor to Leon, but left Leon with some food for though. Leon, dumbstruck, never could have seen what was about to happen next.
ïShocking Endï
Alone in the icy wind, Leon watched as Erik vanished into the blur of white. Somewhere along the way, Leon had gotten back onto O-Daedalys' radar and now sent both the other Agents after him, which meant Indigo was scouring Unova in search of Leon to take him down. Leon wanted to just disappear, but history told him that he couldn't hide from O-Daedalys, but Indigo had never actually beaten him. This gave Leon the confident resolve he needed to continue.
Acting as if nothing ever happened, Leon swept through the last few Gyms with his two newest additions of the team. Charmeleon and Scizor were back in business and business was good. Only Victory Road stood in his way no, but Leon wasn't even ready for what awaited him at the top of that mountain.
On his one year anniversary to having his freedom and coming to Unova, Leon celebrated by exiting Victory Road and making his way to the Elite Four. The Agents were waiting for him, however. The battle was two-on-one, but that was Leon's smallest worry. The battle consisted of Pokemon serving as distractions while Indigo fought Leon himself. After being nearly beaten by the others, Leon called out a desperate move for Scizor to intervene in the fight. As Scizor turned, it was blasted by the female Agent's Volcarona and Scizor reeled. In a last ditch effort, Scizor guided a Bullet Punch right for Indigo. Making a safe dodge, Indigo watched as Scizor knocked Leon off the side of the mountain.
Seconds seemed to last forever in those moments, Leon looking on in disbelief as he watched his Pokemon get overwhelmed before plummeting down the side of the mountain. He smashed into the rocky mountainside a couple times, but most of the fall was through the air. Just as he thought it was all over, Indigo sent his Galvantula out to save Leon with its web. However, this was far from an act of chivalry. Moments passed and Indigo was now standing before his weakened rival, to which he gave a short speech about how now Leon was outmatched and outclassed. Just as Leon reached for Emolga's Pokeball, Indigo ordered Galvantula to direct a Charge Beam at Leon's chest.
The shocking beam tore through him like a knife through butter, leaving him both paralyzed and lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Leon held onto life with every bit of strength he had, but it was fading and seemed insufficient. Indigo's voice rang in his head and images of his Pokemon being brutally beaten filled his brain. Leon had suffered his first loss since he was recruited by O-Daedalys. A small smirk cracked his cold, emotionless face as he realized he was almost giving credit to the bastards who ruined his life. Just as he started to slip into darkness, Leon could hear the sounds of a loud wind overhead before he passed out.
ïCold Re-Boot: Bitter New Beginning in Torrentaï
Several months, operations, and tests later.... Leon awoke in a white room, sounds of machines could be heard beeping in the haze and Leon's thoughts roamed to what was going on or where he was. As the daze cleared, Leon realized he was in some sort of isolation room, but he was hooked up and being monitored. Hadn't he died? Unless....
A couple moments later, a sliding door opened and O-Daedalys scientists walked into the room to explain everything to Leon. Galvantula's Charge Beam missed all his vital areas and was rendered unconscious. The organization had ordered Indigo to bring Leon back so they could recover and re-purpose him. It had been almost a full year, but O-Daedalys knew their investments in Leon were well worth it. Leon became furious with having been recaptured, but didn't make any rash moves for they had saved his life.
For now, he would just do as he was asked and bide his time until he could destroy O-Daedalys once and for all. His first mission was to run through as series of tests to see if his training skills and natural will to fight through a lot of punishment were still intact. Admittedly, Leon was a bit weaker and had become a bit rusty from the time he was out. However, he was still a great trainer, albeit not the perfect machine he once was. To rectify this, as they admitted they were to blame for most of his damage, they forced him to train rigorously for one week before they would release him into the newest region they had discovered and in which they were interested for unknown reasons.
After the first few days of his intensified training, Leon seemed to get back into his old groove slowly, but surely. Now that he had managed to restore most of his old self, he decided to add new twists to better himself and not become the same as he was before. He couldn't be too predictable for the Daedalys Organization, so bettering himself was the only thing he could do. There was no other choice.
Once the week was over, Leon asked if he could retrieve his old Pokemon. A blunt 'no', was all he got and was told that in Torrenta he would start completely anew. It would be as if he were a new trainer starting from scratch. Biting back any retorts he had bottled inside, Leon just accepted the mission and was later dropped off in a town nearest the Pokemon Lab, where he would receive his first Pokemon in the Torrent Region. Unsure about the new region and the lack on Intel he was given, Leon was sure to stay on his toes at all times.
RP SAMPLE --
This is the battle on the mountain after Victory Road.
Leon looked at the end of the stretch, seeing the shimmering light at the end of what seemed to be a very long tunnel, Leon ran joyously for the exit. A feeling of accomplishment and relief came over him as he knew he'd made it so far on his own. The light was his beacon of hope to finally get the chance to battle against a region's most elite Pokemon Trainers. A strong determination flared when he thought about facing the Unova Elite Four and before he knew it, he was out of Victory Road and headed for the Pokemon League.
Sunlight showered down on him as he basked in his own harmless joy and knew that his boyish charm was showing more than it had in years. Looking down, Leon noticed there were places one could easily slide back down to the base of the mountain because the slope was just right. "Ahh, it would appear as though I've finally made it. Now, I just need to defeat the Elite Four and go on to become the Champion of Unova!" he shouted, turning to find something that shocked him to his core. The Daedalys Agents had come between him and the Pokemon League and now were staring his down as if they could kill him with looks alone.
"What do you think you're doing, Three?" asked the fiery girl to Indigo's right, already having called out her Pokemon; Leon grit his teeth. "Don't call me that! I'm not just a number!" Leon cried, reaching for Charmeleon's Pokeball. "I'll show you just what a waste of resources you are, Three! Volcarona, hit him with your Flamethrower before he can call out his Pokemon!"
Surprised by the girl's rage, Leon quickly leapt backward and tossed the Pokeball at the ground. "Charmeleon! Let's show them what a real Flamethrower looks like!" Leon retorted, the hardened Pokemon's bluish flames overpowering Volcarona's Flamethrower with relative ease. "Hah! I can tell you and Volcarona haven't been training for very long. You'll never match up against me and Charmeleon with such an inexperienced Pokemon!" Charmeleon snorted and smirked as if to agree.
"Then let's see how you do against the both of us," chimed Indigo at the most opportune moment. Leon growled and glared intensely at his long-time rival. When the Pokeball popped open, Leon was shocked to see the massive Pokemon chosen by his nemesis. Towering over him and Charmeleon, a Metagross stood at the ready. Leon had fought this Metagross before, but why would Indigo use a Steel-type against his Charmeleon?
"Hah! Alright, then let's hit 'im with a Fire Blast, Charmeleon!" called Leon, as the two seemed confident that they could handle a two-on-one alone. As with flames scorched and burned through the air, Indigo called out a Psychic command, which froze the fire in place before snuffing it out. "Huh?! No way! Argh.. Alright, let's get in close with Agility, then follow up with a Fire Punch!"
On command, the Charmeleon started to use its slender body to cut through the air with swift precision. Closing in on the Metagross, everything seemed to be going according to plan. Until Charmeleon got close enough that it would be able to dodge Indigo's next move; Earthquake. "Charmeleon, No!" cried the young man, rushing forward to Charmeleon's aid, but was cut off by the flames of Volcarona. "Tch, damn it!"
Making sure to stay out of harmís way, Volcarona effectively kept Leon from Charmeleon as Metagross was crushing it beneath one of its giant legs. "Charmeleon.. No!! Ahh! Samurott, come out and help!" Leon cried, throwing the Pokeball out to have his fully evolved Oshawott, now Samurott, join the fray. A long battle ensued and before he knew it, Leon was recalling Charmeleon and sending out Scizor to aid Samurott against Metagross. It was at this point that Indigo and Two had directed their focus on fighting Leon themselves.
The fight was long and hard, mostly consisting of Two being a decoy while Indigo closed in for the hard hits. After a long battle for supremacy, the two overwhelmed Leon and began beating him back into a corner. Nearly beaten, Leon had no other options left than to ask one of his Pokemon to turn against a human. As much as it pained him to do it, there was nothing left for him to do. "Scizor!!! Use Bullet Punch on Indigo!" he sounded, the Pokemon turning in question before being blasted by Volcarona's Flamethrower. Faithful till the end, Scizor attempted a last resort move to save Leon.
The speedy pincer cut through the air like it was nothing, but Indigo dodged in the final seconds and Leon was there to take the hit for him. The heavy metal claw crunched into his face and sent him flying backward, clean off the side of the mountain. Looking on, tears streamed from his eyes as his mind kept asking if this was how it all ended. His final thoughts and pictures he seen were of how he'd lost and seeing his Pokemon getting overpowered before the sky and mountainside were all he could see. Smashing into the mountain a few times was hell, but the fact that he had all the time to think on the way down was worse for him.
What had he done to deserve all of this? All he ever wanted was to become a strong Pokemon trainer and forever be with Pokemon. Just when he was ready for his own death, something stopped his descent and upon opening his eyes realized he had been saved by a web of string. Looking around, Leon seen the silhouette of someone sliding down the mountainside. It was Indigo. Did he save me? Leon thought before Indigo commanded Leon to get up.
"Indigo.. I'm not going back.. Why don't you understand?" Leon asked, his arm weakly rising to reach around to his belt. "How can you stand by and let them get away with what they've done..? They ruined our lives." "Stop talking. Galvantula.. Charge Beam.." Indigo stated coldly, as Leon's eyes widened when he felt the burning beam of electrical energy to sear through him. Collapsing to the ground, Leon's mind ran rampant with thoughts of how his life had come to this.
As the darkness sank its teeth into him, tears rolled down his face when he thought of how he'd failed his Pokemon. Charmeleon. Samurott. Scizor. All of them had fought to save him today, but now their fates would be left unknown. I'm sorry.. I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to protect you, he thought before the loud beating of wind was all he knew. And then..... Darkness.
